The New Forest Association view reveals many of the attractions of the area as well as the uses of the Forest today. The working Forest is illustrated as well as the recreational. It shows that there are sometimes conflicts between various users and how these may be resolved. This well illustrated talk provides a good introduction to the New Forest.

The History of the New Forest Association explains why the Association was formed at a time of crisis in 1867 when the Forest was under threat of being abandoned to plantations and housing. It shows how the issues of the day were resolved and why it has been found necessary to continue the work today. It is believed to be the second oldest conservation organisation in the country after the Open Spaces Society.
